How to use the symbol picker

  1. Pick a category chip, or type in the search box — it matches both the English and the Chinese name of every symbol.
  2. Click a symbol to copy it straight to your clipboard; it is also added to the Recently used row so you can grab it again.
  3. Check the panel underneath for the Unicode code point, the HTML entity and the CSS escape when you need to write the symbol into code.

FAQ

Why do some symbols look different on my device?

Symbols are ordinary text, so they are drawn with whatever font is available. Box-drawing characters need a monospace font to line up, and a few rarer glyphs fall back to a system font that may be styled differently.

What is the difference between 「」 and “”?

「」 are the traditional Chinese and Japanese corner brackets, used for quotations in vertical and Traditional-Chinese typography. Simplified Chinese usually uses the full-width curly quotes “ ”, and both are in the Chinese punctuation category.

Are the recently used symbols stored anywhere?

Only in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and clearing the list removes it for good.
