FAQ

How are Chinese characters counted?

Each CJK character counts as one word and one character, so a 500-character Chinese essay shows 500 words. Latin words are split on spaces and punctuation.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Counting happens entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

How is reading time estimated?

Reading assumes 225 words per minute (or 400 Chinese characters per minute); speaking assumes 150 words per minute.
