Conversion is drawn through your browser's canvas, so EXIF, GPS and colour-profile tags are not carried over — handy when you want to strip metadata before sharing.

How to convert GIF to JPG

    1. Drop your .gif files onto the box.
    2. Pick the background colour that fills the GIF's transparent pixels, then set the JPG quality.
    3. Press Convert to JPG and download the stills, individually or zipped.

    FAQ

    What happens to the animation?

A JPG holds one image, so only the first frame is saved. If you wanted a poster frame for a video thumbnail, that is usually exactly what you need.

    Will the colours look banded?

GIF only stores 256 colours, so gradients may already be dithered. JPG will faithfully reproduce that dithering — converting cannot add colours back.

Why not just rename the file?

Renaming .gif to .jpg does not change the bytes inside; most software will refuse to open it. A real re-encode, like this one, is required.
